Corigliano d'Otranto

Corigliano d'Otranto is one of the twelve towns of Grecìa Salentina and one of the nine towns which still conserve their fascinating and ancient dialect, the griko. It is situated in the heart of Salento, equidistant from the costs of the peninsula, and at about 25 km from Lecce.

The flat territory is particularly suitable for the cultivation of olive trees which, as for other towns in the Salento, represent the main agricultural activity and an important source of income thanks to the production of the excellent extra virgin olive oil. The urban, social and cultural development of the small town in the Salento is related to its roman origins but it was also influenced by the byzantine culture of the Greek monks.
